The rapper was arrested three hours later at his hotel in nearby Gateshead.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "We can confirm that a 31-year-old man was arrested following an incident at a Newcastle city centre nightclub in the early hours of this morning. He was released without charge and no further police action is being taken."
A spokesman for the Tup Tup Palace denied knowledge of an altercation. "He was here from about 1am to 2am with all his crew. We had two of his DJs playing and Kanye had the whole VIP area booked out.
"He left about 2am and went to his hotel. We have no knowledge of any incident inside or outside."
